Urban development and social change since the “Arduous March” ».
Résumé en anglais/Abstract
Pyongyang was planned and built according to the principles of the socialist city. However, these principles have been gradually abandoned by urban planners and construction stakeholders since the early 2010s. The recent urban developments of the last ten years reflect the political, economic and social changes that occurred after the « Arduous March » in North Korea. This communication will focus on both the architectural characteristics of these new residential districts and their integration into the city, while seeking to better understand the social upheavals after the « Arduous March » such as the development of a real estate market and the emergence of private investors in the construction sector.
